Marquee Wedding in the Peak District

Katie & Sam commissioned me to be their Marquee Wedding Photographer for their big day, alongside Brighthand Productions, who I work with quite a few times throughout the year. Theirs was to be a Marquee wedding in the Peak District, with a ceremony at church to start the day. Their Marquee Wedding was to be at Sam’s parent’s home, just outside Edale. Edale is a small village of around 300 people at the end of the Hope Valley, and described as one of the best places to live in the UK, having won several top polls. And it’s only 30 minutes away from Manchester too. Katie & Sam booked me as their Marquee Wedding Photographer a few months’ previous to their summer wedding date. I have been a Marquee Wedding Photographer a few times, but this was too be my first in Edale. Katie and the girls were getting ready in a cottage, a few yards away from Church…literally! I worked alongside videographers Brendon & Rich as we had a laugh with the girls while the preparations were well underway. This was going to be a brilliant wedding shoot as a Marquee Wedding Photographer!

Wedding Flowers in the Peak District

Local florists The Floral Collection supplied the stunning hand-tied bouquets for Katie and the bridesmaids. They were truly stunning to photograph as a marquee wedding photographer – I used an old leather chair to contrast the textures of the flowers and the background, using available light for my shots. As the morning moved on, the excitement was beginning to rise. More and more friends arrived at the house to get ready for the wedding, and the music got louder competing with the hair dryers too. We seemed to have around thirty people at one point - mild chaos as various guests dropped in, got changed and left for church.

Helen Davies Celebrant & Wedding Planner

Katie & Sam’s big day was all under the professional planning of Helen Davies. Helen is a joy to work with, fully organised and great fun. Helen helped my day as a Marquee Wedding Photographer go perfectly to time, with no hiccups or problems….for anybody! Groom’s Father was the Vicar

The church service was to be held at Edale Parish Church. The twist in this story was that Sam’s father was the Vicar! How rare. So both Sam and his Dad Simon were under pressure! As the videographers and myself;f arrived at church, so were the guests…loads of them. This was going to give me some brilliant images as a Marquee Wedding Photographer; there were hugs and happy faces galore, all very excited for these two Doctors to be married. The girls walked down the lane to church, while a slightly nervous Sam was in position at the top of the aisle. Katie and the girls had one last group hug and put their ‘Wedding Game Faces’ on. The ceremony went perfectly, and Katie celebrated with a quick floss dance as the register was being signed!

Village Wedding in The Peak District

This village wedding in the Peak District was simply brilliant. As we left church, we spent a few minutes for some newly wed couples photos….(and THAT kiss shot), plus a few family group photos. Then it was time for Katie & Sam to travel up the road to the marquee on the back of a converted trailer, towed by a friend’s tractor. A brilliant touch. As Katie & sam arrived at the marquee in the garden, the atmosphere exploded with excitement, and stayed like this until I left after some dancing photos. A brilliant day being a Marquee Wedding Photographer!

Here’s some of my favourite photos from the day…
