Iconic Manchester Wedding Venue
Great John Street Hotel is an iconic Manchester Wedding Venue. Once the main social club for Granada TV, ‘The Old School’ as it was called, was the home of GTV production crew when work was finished for the day. Coronation Street stars, and any celebrities or visitors working at GTV in between filming were always present. An autograph hunter’s paradise! I know - in my old TV days I used to go there with a mate from GTV and have a few beers from time to time! Times change, and so did the venue. Still iconic, the whole building was redeveloped into a stunning boutique hotel and renamed The Great John Street Hotel, and described as...

Old school became a wedding venue
This former County Municipal School was built in 1912. Like other inner city schools, this one had a rooftop playground. The rooftop is now occupied by a roof terrace and a hot tub. Newspaper articles about the hotel claim that the school educated the children of itinerant canal boat workers. Possibly a dubious claim, but walking around the building, you can see how it once was. You can almost hear the children running ups and down the stairwells. So, this old school became a wedding venue, owned by Eclectic Hotel Collection.
City Centre Chic
Great John Street Hotel oozes City Centre Chic. Perfect for urban weddings, the hotel is beautifully designed and managed. Your wedding ceremony is on the top floor, next to the spacious terrace, overlooking the ever-changing Manchester landscape. A perfect ‘hideaway’ venue for you and your guests, and a firm favourite for a Manchester Wedding Photographer to work at.
