Higher Trapp House Wedding Venue

The Higher Trapp (as we all know it) is a gorgeous wedding venue, situated in the Ribble Valley near Simonstone and Padiham. A very popular Lancashire wedding venue, the Higher Trapp offers a great option for your Ribble Valley wedding. It describes itself as…

“Situated in the heart of the Ribble Valley and surrounded by breathtaking scenery, Higher Trapp House is a favourite place for many visiting this part of Lancashire and with our ability to offer exclusive wedding use for your special day. There are highlights aplenty at our stunning wedding venue, from the traditional oak staircase, cosy fireplaces and original leaded windows, to the glorious Pagoda in the lush gardens with perfectly manicured lawns, where you can also hold your ceremony.

Nestled in four acres of magnificent terraced gardens situated in the Pendle Valley, Higher Trapp enjoys an elevated position and panoramic views across the Lancashire countryside and offers charm, comfort and luxury.

Higher Trapp is the perfect choice for business and leisure, ideal for conferences and team-building workshops, luxury weddings or a romantic weekend getaway”.

Intimate Wedding at The Higher Trapp

Katie & Josh chose The Higher Trapp as their wedding venue for their intimate family wedding. They also chose me to be their Higher Trapp Wedding Photographer, as they really liked my natural style of wedding photography. With around thirty wedding guests, (me included….check the seating plan!), plus a full day of emotion, fun and laughter beckoning, the couple booked me to capture their wedding at the Higher Trapp. As their Higher Trapp Wedding Photographer, I was to be telling their story from preparations to just after the wedding speeches. Their wedding day was late October, so a beautiful Autumnal day was on the cards. I have worked as a Higher Trapp Wedding Photographer before, so know the venue well. I arrived early to have a good look around, planning where we would photograph a few family group photos, plus some great areas for the couple photos later on in the day.

First Look Wedding

Katie & Josh had planned a first look for their wedding. With military precision, Josh was interviewed by the registrars, then made his way into the lounge, with his back turned. Very excited, an even more excited Katie burst into the room and hugged Josh from behind. It was brilliant to witness and photograph this gorgeous moment as their Higher Trapp Wedding Photographer; very emotional, yet full of fun at the same time. With around fifteen minutes to go before the ceremony, the wedding guests took their seats, behind the subtly closed doors at the head of the aisle. So…Katie & Josh were gathered with the three bridesmaids, waiting to go. So what did they do? They danced until the door opened and they made their way down the aisle. Great fun, and some great moments captured too by their Higher Trapp Wedding Photographer.

Emotional Wedding Ceremony

The wedding ceremony was full of laughs, full of fun and full of emotion. Especially when Gran and Grandad stood up and did the reading for the couple. They were brilliant, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house - even this Higher Trapp Wedding Photographer had a lump in his throat.

Natural wedding photography at The Higher Trapp

These photos are slightly different to the collection delivered to my clients. They contain more black and white, documentary style images, telling the story of Katie & Josh’s wedding as their Higher Trapp Wedding Photographer. No flash or lighting was used for any of these photos - all natural and available lighting was used for them all. I think it works well, there’s a solid balance between the black and white documentary work, together with the colour details and portraits of my clients. Maybe you would fancy a mostly mono wedding with my being your Higher Trapp Wedding Photographer? Cath & Ged did at their wedding at Holmes Mill.

Higher Trapp Wedding Photographer

Even the most intimate of weddings bring a full spectrum of emotions on the day. Josh’s parents started the wedding speeches in style, standing up and delivering a heartfelt, funny and amusing set of anecdotes about their son. As a Higher Trapp Wedding Photographer, this gave me some great reaction shots of the wedding guests. When it came to Josh’s turn, his parents were at the lens end of my Nikons once more….with a lovely laughing photo of them both. All in all, this was a brilliant autumn wedding at The Higher Trapp, and gave me a lovely set of photos I can share with you as a Higher Trapp Wedding Photographer.

Here’s some of my favourite photos from the day…
