Tipi Wedding Photographer - Emily & Jordan

Highlights from Emily & Jordan’s brilliant outdoor wedding in the Peak District

Tipi Wedding in the Peak District

Emily & Jordan booked me for their awesome Tipi Wedding in the Peak District. It was to be a two-day event, (yes…event) down at Yew Tree Farm near Alfreton. With a fantastic Tipi set up up in the field, plus an outdoor ceremony space, complete with Celebrant, we were looking good. The guests camped out around the perimeter of the field - in tents, cars, camper vans….whatever! This was going to be a brilliant wedding. Emily & Jordan had done the ‘legal bit’ a few days previously, so this was to be a two day party.

Cottage accommodation in the Peak District

Emily and her bridal party were getting ready in one of the nearby cottages. No tents for this girl….yet! Next door, literally was Jordan and his family, separated by one internal door and 3m. I moved between both cottages to grab some preparation shots of everybody concerned.

Sarah Morten Makeup Artist

On duty with me was the talented Sarah Morten, getting everybody ready on time. Sarah was also a guest for the day, as she knew Emily well. It was a pleasure working with Sarah, and I can thoroughly recommend her.

Humanist Wedding Ceremony

As the clock slowly approached ceremony time, Emily put her stunning wedding dress on, and waited excitedly for Dad to appear. I quietly kept out of the way as Dad put his round the corner and yelped with excitement at seeing his daughter so beautiful. Jordan and the wedding guests were waiting on the field, together with Julie, our Celebrant. The atmosphere was building now as Dad escorted Emily round the corner and down the aisle. It was a brilliant ceremony too, filled with happiness and jokes. But it was also tinged with a little sadness as a candle was lit in memory of Emily’s mum.

Tipi Wedding Reception

As the ceremony finished, it was time for a few relaxed family photos, then the party stepped up a gear. We had ice cream, field sports, a coconut shy (I was nearly taken out by a ten year old!) plus Pimms and canapés ‘on the lawn’ (a VERY big lawn at that). With a few minutes set aside for some couple photos, we were soon sitting down to a fantastic wedding meal and speeches. This Tipi Wedding reception was now bouncing with fun and laughter. After speeches, we spent ten minutes in the late afternoon sunshine shooting one or two more couple photos, then it was cake cut time, and first dance. On hand were a local band to Emily & Jordan, The Rumour Mill. And they were brilliant. Emily surprised us all with a guest appearance on lead vocals to Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believin’ and brought the house down…

Here’s some of my favourite photos from the day…
