Ashfield House Wedding Photography - Sarah & Jon

Highlights from Sarah & Jon’s summer wedding at this award-winning Lancashire wedding venue

Family Run Wedding Venue

Ashfield House is a beautiful and exclusive family-run wedding venue just outside of Wigan. Built in 1755, this country house has enjoyed extensions and renovations to restore the heritage of the house and retain its history. Owned and managed by Katie Street, the venue was completely renovated in 2009, successfully turning Ashfield House into the award-winning, respected exclusive wedding venue it is today. It describes itself as…

“Ashfield House is an awesome family run wedding venue where couples come and take over exclusively for the day! A gorgeous blank canvas for weddings, grand yet homely and jam packed full of quirky details – but not so hipster your Nan won’t approve!”

I have worked at Ashfield House a few times on various wedding and editorial shoots - plus Ashfield House wedding photography on numerous occasions.

Award-Winning Lancashire Wedding Venue

Ashfield House is also an award-winning Lancashire wedding venue. Having won numerous awards in the wedding industry, Katie and the team are testament to the hard work and dedication they have, and continue to undertake on each and every wedding. From the humble days in 2009, Ashfield House is now one of the most sought after wedding venues in Lancashire. I really enjoy working at Ashfield House with my wedding photography. As I say, I have shot various projects there (several for Little White Books ) a few times over the years, and love producing my natural, documentary Ashfield House wedding photography here.

Kerry Baker MUA

Kerry Baker is a Bridal Makeup Artist (MUA) I work with quite a lot throughout the year. Kerry works at Ashfield House more than most too, being referred to new clients constantly because she is, well, ‘dead good’ at it. And its always a pleasure to work with her. Why? Timing for one. Not only is Kerry a very talented MUA and incredibly busy across Lancashire with her weddings, but she really knows when to have the bride ready for photos, without rushing or panicking about the time. Always in control and professional, I am always reassured Kerry will have the Bride ready in time for me to photograph the wedding dress being fastened and time for a few portraits before the ceremony. Kerry was on duty at Sarah’s parents’ house for Bridal preparations, and busy when I arrived early on the wedding day. So, thanks Kerry for helping keep my Ashfield House wedding photography on track for Sarah & Jon’s wedding. A great morning of laughs and natural wedding photos.

Christ Church Parbold

The wedding ceremony was at Christ Church in Parbold, a church fairly local to Sarah’s parents house. The Yorkshire vicar was brilliant. Very funny, very dry, very sarcastic…and very Yorkshire. He let me work where I needed to in his state-of-the-art church. And it was. The church had LCD monitors around the front and sides, with karaoke-style lyrics. No grubby, battered hymn books here. And…it had a 16 channel mixing desk too, (I’m guessing for the church band). Awesome! Being allowed to work where I needed, I managed one of my favourite ever wedding photos over his shoulders of the couple as part of my Ashfield House wedding photography. Thanks Vicar! The ceremony went perfectly well, so we were soon outside for the confetti throw, before heading off to Ashfield House. By now the rain had hit, So we worked on a Plan B for the family group photos and a few portraits in The Ceremony Room. My Ashfield House wedding photography collection was completing quite well.

The Wedding Car Hire People

Sarah & Jon’s wedding transport was all in the capable hands of The Wedding Car Hire People, and had a stunning Beauford Tourer. The car did a couple of runs, taking Sarah’s mum to church first. Sarah arrived on time with her dad, all excited and laughing (him more than Sarah!) With time for a few quick photos of them both walking up to church, I duly hurried into church to take up my position next to the altar for this next stage of my Ashfield House wedding photography.

Ashfield House Wedding Photography

As we arrived at Ashfield House, my natural style documentary wedding photography kicked in, and for the next hour or so I quietly went about photographing Ashfield House wedding photography for Sarah & Jon in the lounge area. With the family groups complete, in an unusual and stunning environment, the Ceremony Room mad a perfect natural light studio. Soon were in for the wedding breakfast and speeches, while I chilled out with a stunning meal myself. The rain stopped after the wedding speeches for a few minutes, so Sarah, Jon and myself went outside for a few minutes of Ashfield House wedding photography . The ground was still too wet to walk about too much, so we photographed around the main lawn area, catching a few seconds of sunshine (and lovely lens flare) for a few more natural portraits. As the night drew in, it was time for Sarah & Jon to cut the cake and have their first dance. Then the party started!

Here’s some of my favourite photos from the day…
