Holmes Mill Wedding Photographer - Cath & Ged

Highlights from Cath & Ged’s stylish black tie wedding at this unique Lancashire wedding venue

Holmes Mill Wedding Venue

Cath & Ged booked me to be their Holmes Mill Wedding Photographer for their Black Tie wedding, after meeting me at a wedding fair organised by Little White Books. Holmes Mill is a fantastic, and unique wedding venue in Clitheroe. Owned by James’ Places, a Holmes Mill wedding is always beautifully organised and run. Holmes Mill describes itself as…

“Based in the heart of Clitheroe, Holmes Mill is a unique celebration of Lancashire food, drink and entertainment. Featuring a beer hall, hotel, food hall and much more, this former textiles mill is the perfect place to indulge, unwind and explore…”

If you’re looking for a unique wedding venue, full of character and old-world industrial charm, then I would definitely add a Holmes Mill Wedding on your wedding planning. This was to be my first time as a Holmes Mill Wedding Photographer, and I was really looking forward to it!

Black Tie Wedding at Holmes Mill

Cath & Ged had planned a black tie wedding - a very stylish one, with the bridesmaids Ellen & Holly in stunning black dresses to boot. Cath loves Black & White photos and asked me as their Holmes Mill Wedding Photographer to capture as much of their Holmes Mill Wedding in mono. Who am I to argue?! I love clients who let me ‘do my thing’ especially if we’re going almost all mono for a wedding. Some images needed to be in colour though, so I specifically chose the contrast between the mono narrative, plus the colour detail and portrait photos, as part of my Holmes Mill Wedding Photographer duties.

Holmes Mill Wedding in Summer

Cath & Ged’s Holmes Mill wedding was August Bank Holiday weekend - and a very hot day! The sun was out, the guests were all very excited to see these two (finally!!) getting married at this Holmes MiIl wedding. Cath was undecided as to who would walk her down the aisle, so as her Holmes Mill Wedding Photographer, we formulated a plan to throw the wedding guests a ‘curve ball’. As we were all gathered in the ceremony hall, the bridesmaids made their way down the aisle. Then Cath appeared on her own at the end of the aisle. Ged went to fetch her, and walk her back down the ailse to the front. What a moment for this Holmes Mill Wedding Photographer! There were a lot of happy tears all of a sudden from the gathered wedding guests…and Ellen & Holly too. Got me too, and it was partly my idea!

Wedding Ceremony at Holmes Mill

The Brilliant Wedding ceremony at this Holmes Mill wedding was full of fun and laughter, plus a few tears here and there. Helen, the registrar officiating the ceremony was brilliant. I love working with her. With a couple of emotional, from the heart readings, all subtly captured by this Holmes Mill Wedding Photographer, we were off back down the aisle to ABBA at full volume. Why not?! Cannot beat a bit of Dancing Queen to capture some fun-filled authentic wedding photos as a Holmes Mill Wedding Photographer. This also got the party started as we danced our way outside for some confetti and family group photos.

Documentary wedding photography at Holmes Mill

I really enjoyed my day as Cath & Ged’s Holmes Mill Wedding Photographer, producing documentary photography at thier summer wedding. My brief was just to let the day flow and capture the fun. Oh…and mostly in mono don’t forget! I used four lenses for the day, travelling light as their Holmes Mill Wedding Photographer. For the photographers out there I worked with 24mm/50mm and 35mm/85mm combinations. I am really pleased with how the images look - not too over worked and edited, but natural, and authentic - which is my style as a Holmes Mill Wedding Photographer.

Here’s some of my favourite photos from the day…
