Bartle Hall Wedding Photographer - Gemma & Jake

Highlights from Gemma & Jake’s summer wedding at Bartle Hall

Bartle Hall Wedding Venue

Bartle Hall is a stunning choice if you’re planning a Lancashire wedding. I have been a Battle Hall Wedding Photographer numerous times, photographing weddings at this award-winning Lancashire venue.

Bartle Hall describes itself as…

“Bartle Hall Country House & Coaching Barn is a unique wedding venue, set in 16 acres of wild and wonderful woodland. Combining a classic country house with the rural charm of the coaching barn, Bartle Hall truly offers you the best of both worlds.

A venue for every season offering a mix of historic beams, feature fireplaces, mood lighting, beautiful wood floors, neutral and contemporary decor. Relaxed lounges with log fires, huge four metre long Chesterfield and stunning contemporary bar make a cosy and intimate setting all year round. Our patio and BBQ area is lit by festoon lighting and lanterns and is perfect for summer evenings.

Private gardens, a graceful pagoda and feature staircase can provide the perfect backdrop for those important wedding photographs”.

Bridal Preparations for a Battle Hall Wedding

Gemma was getting ready at the nearby Marriott Hotel near Preston, together with sister Lucy. A very quiet, calm morning, unlike the usual chaos of multiple bridesmaids getting ready to some banging tunes, the girls got themselves ready without any dance music required….ha ha. I quietly did my thing too, capturing the various stages of Gemma & Lucy getting ‘wedding ready’. Jake and the groomsmen were also in the same hotel, but sufficiently distanced fromGemma’s room. I had plenty of time to move between rooms to capture Jake et al’s prep photos. A great start for this Bartle Hall Wedding Photographer.

A Wedding At St John Baptist Church Broughton

Gemma & Jake were to be married at the church nearby to the Marriott. St John Baptist Church in Broughton is a lovely, classic church, and the end of Church Lane (weirdly) in Broughton. On time, I caught up with Jake and the groomsmen for a few portraits, plus some Live Photos of the wedding guests arriving. Gemma and Lucy arrived in style, in dad’s Aston Martin. Proud dad was the strong, silent type, but bursting with pride over his two girls. He walked Gemma down the aisle slowly and allowing everyone to see the procession. I was positioned at the rear of the church, photographing the wedding on a 70-200mm lens - rare for me to use a lens this long, let alone a zoom…but it’s all part of being a Bartle Hall Wedding Photographer I suppose.

Bartle Hall Wedding in Summer

Bartle Hall is a stunning wedding venue, full of character and style. The sixteen acres of land offer much scope for natural wedding photography (but don’t try and walk it all!) As Gemma & Jake’s Bartle Hall Wedding Photographer, I had planned a simple fifteen minute photo session with my clients - that’s all we needed for some natural couple photos. As their experienced Bartle Hall Wedding Photographer, I was fully conversant with the venue, and knew where I wanted to photograph the couple photos later in the day, after the speeches. Talking of which, the speeches were really good, very funny, very emotional and very entertaining. Jake had Gemma in tears with his speech, incredibly moving. After speeches, we headed into the grounds for a few more minutes’ couples photos. The light was gorgeous, with lots of lens flare bouncing around the Nikons (no photoshop trickery here!) for this part of my being Gemma & Jake’s Bartle Hall Wedding Photographer. Around thirty minutes later, were cutting the cake and having the first dance, to a very crowded dance floor.

Here’s some of my favourite photos from the day…
