Stirk House Wedding Venue In The Ribble Valley

Stirk House is one of my favourite wedding venues to work at. Located up the A59 just outside Gisburn, the venue is a perfect Ribble Valley wedding venue. Stirk House has a very interesting history, which you can read here.

Stirk House describes it’s ‘About’ as:

Built back in 1635, Stirk House exudes character and many authentic features can still be seen today, including a magnificent stone arch above the fireplace and even the original doorway which continues to welcome guests to this special place after all these years. Constructed using stonework from the former Sawley Abbey, dismantled a century earlier during Henry VIII’s dissolution of the monasteries, Stirk House has been unique from its very beginning. The building has stood through two world wars and survived a devastating fire before becoming the highly acclaimed venue we know and love.

Don’t let the small Manor House facade fool you, the venue is bigger inside than it looks! As a Stirk House Wedding Photographer, I get to work at this gorgeous venue a few times every year.

Recommended Stirk House Wedding Photographer

I am also a recommended Stirk House Wedding Photographer. Proud to be on ‘the list’ and have been for a few years now, my role as a Stirk House Wedding Photographer is to work naturally and unobtrusively. No posing, or staged photos in particular, I let the day flow and capture it naturally for my clients. My clients book me for the simple approach I have to capturing their wedding day. Just leave me to it! And they do, letting me tell the story of their day as their Stirk House Wedding Photographer. No fuss, no time-consuming couples and family photos for (seemingly) hours on end. No, I work quickly and quietly capturing the fun, the emotion and the happy tears your wedding day brings. Recommended Stirk House Wedding Photographer….that’s me.

Weddings at Stirk House

Lauren & Chris booked me to capture their day up to the end of the speeches, with a gorgeous church ceremony at The English Martyrs Church in nearby Whalley. I spent some time with Lauren and the girls in the morning, before leaving for church, a good hour or so before Lauren would leave. This gave me chance as their Stirk House Wedding Photographer to capture Chris and the Best Men greeting the guests as they arrived for the ceremony. The weather was gorgeous, all very autumnal and the light was stunning to work with.

Wedding Videos at Stirk House

I was working alongside one of my favourite wedding video producers, Brighthand Productions as Lauren & Chris’ Stirk House Wedding Photographer. I have worked with these guys so many times now - we don’t even have to speak to each other since we know how we work together so well! But we do have fun, and we do work as a great team. Why not check out their website and see what you think for yourself?

Authentic Wedding Photography at Stirk House

From the confetti throwing after the gorgeous church ceremony, we headed back to Stirk House for a short drinks reception and a few family group photos. With a few minutes spare, I worked quickly as a Stirk House Wedding Photographer capturing some gorgeous natural photos of the couple…who, incidentally hadn’t stopped laughing since leaving church. Photographing these guys was easy! We were then into the main wedding reception and speeches. Lauren’s mum was first. She was brilliant, but the emotions got the better of her. Chris was next - brilliant speech interrupted by the emotions of the whole day, but soldiered on bravely and did a brilliant job! Next up were the two best men; funny, interesting, but…the emotions got the better of these guys too. Do you see a pattern here? On the whole it was a brilliant day; finished off perfectly with a rainbow over the venue as I left…

Here’s some of my favourite photos from the day…
