Rivington Hall Barn Wedding Photographer
Highlights from Imogen & Joe’s wedding at this unique Lancashire wedding venue
Popular Lancashire Wedding Venue
Rivington Hall Barn is a very popular wedding venue. Simple as! I have worked there a few times now, and love the unique nature of the venue. As a Rivington Barn wedding photographer I love the contrast of the actual barn, with it’s constant year-round atmosphere, against the (more classic) landscape and main hall itself. The opportunities for good wedding photography are all out limitless. The venue’s exterior works all-year round too for the Rivington Barn wedding photographer. Personally I prefer classic summers with the low, late afternoon / early evening sunlight making for some stunning wedding photos.
Wedding Preparations at Rivington Hall Barn
Wedding preparations at Rivington Hall Barn are normally located in the stunning Dressing Rooms - two spacious, period featured rooms with large windows and available light. Perfect for the Bridal Party. The Dressing Rooms are located within the main Hall, and a literal three minutes’ walk to the top of the aisle in the main Barn. A new addition to the venue are four Shepherd Huts - again perfect for your partner’s preparations, or for that overnight stay as the newlyweds.
Classic Church Wedding in Lancashire
Imogen and Joe were to be married at St Joseph’s RC Church in Anderton, around twenty minutes’ drive away from Rivington Hall Barn. This was to be a classic church wedding, giving me the lovely contrast between it and the venue for my being their Rivington Hall Barn wedding photographer. After spending some time with Imogen and her family in the morning, and capturing some lovely natural wedding photos of Bride-to-Be Imogen, I arrived at church to capture the groomsmen and wedding guests. On hand with me was my friend Martin Hambleton, who spent time with the Groomsmen in the morning. So, there we were , all ready to go as Imogen and the bridesmaids appeared in the wedding cars. A few portraits later and my Rivington Hall Barn wedding photographer collection was slowly building.
Both Imogen and Joe are music teachers, and Joe played guitar in church for one of the wedding guests to sing. A brilliant touch to a traditional wedding ceremony.

From the church ceremony, and after a great confetti throw, we made our way to Rivington Hall Barn. As the guests were arriving, Imogen, Joe and myself spent a few minutes photographing some natural wedding photos, as a Rivington Hall Barn wedding photographer. We braved a little boggy ground, but it was worth it as the overcast day suddenly lit up in bright sunshine to help create some great wedding photos. This Rivington Hall Barn wedding photographer was very happy with this mostly unposed session. As I mentioned, I have photographed at Rivington Hall Barn a few times, and have a page on the website dedicated to my being a Rivington Hall Barn wedding photographer. You can see it here.
Wedding reception in Lancashire
With an hour or so mingling with the guests inside and around the beautiful glass conservatory on the side of the main Barn, I captured some lovely little moments - the laughter, the hugs and happy tears - all the fun of wedding guests chilling and relaxing before the speeches and wedding breakfast. Yep, my Rivington Hall Barn wedding photographer folio was amassing nicely. The speeches were brilliant. Imogen’s dad was very funny, and maintained a stiff upper lip for toasting absent friends. Joe sparked in to life with his speech, making us all laugh (I’m not supposed to get involved!) and held a brilliant moment in time with all the guests. Best Man was hilarious, and took things very well, when, as he stood up to speak, two tables cleared and walked out of the room, leaving him stranded for a few moments. Well done to the guest who orchestrated that joke! The speeches gave me lots of opportunity as a Rivington Hall Barn wedding photographer to capture some great reactions - especially the Best Man’s mum as a few secrets leaked out. She was mortified but took it very well! After speeches, it was time to photograph the cake cut and first dance, adding the final chapters to my being a Rivington Hall Barn wedding photographer for Imogen & Joe’s big day. Joe and Best Man surprised everyone by playing trombone in the band that played for the evening reception. Nice one!
